Visit of Mr. Pallab Lochan Das , Minister of State for Labour and Employment and Tea Tribes Welfare to Amalgamated Plantations Industrial Training Institute (APPITI)
Mr. Pallab Lochan Das , Minister of State for Labour and Employment and Tea Tribes Welfare along with Mr. Charan Boro, MLA Majbat, Mr. Maheswar Boro, MLA Kalaigaon and Mr. Shyam Sundi, EM BTC visited APPITI, Rowta, a CSR initiative of the Company, on 13th September, 2016. They were given a tour of the institute by Mr. Dhiraj Kakati, Managing Trustee of APPL Foundation and Mr. Saroj Borah, administrator of APPITI. It was explained that the Institute which was started by TATA Tea in 1997 has grown in leaps and bounds and is currently partnered with TATA Motors, Schneider Electricals, Mahindra and APPL. So far, out of the 1174 students who have been certified, 548 students have received job placements. Mr. Kakati highlighted the fact that arranging job placements in Assam for most of the students passing out of the Institute was very challenging as a result of which they are constrained to move to Tamil Nadu or other southern parts of the country for jobs. Mr. Pallab Das noted this issue and assured his co-operation.
