A training program for Small Tea Growers of Golaghat District was rolled out at Dygroon area under Lattakoojan Tea Estate on 7th April, 2016. Amalgamated Plantations Private Limited along with Tata Global Beverages Limited, Ethical Tea Partnership and Tea Research Association joined hands to impart training on Good Agricultural Practices of Tea Cultivation to more than 200 growers from Golaghat and Karbi Anglong Districts. APPL management, Office bearers of Small Tea Growers Association and the Tea Development Officer, Tea Board Jorhat Branch also participated and shared their valuable experiences.
State Bank of India represented by an Official from the Regional Branch, Jorhat, Agri-Business Officer from Guwahati and Manager of the local branch also attended the program and interacted with the STGs on KCC loans and other products.
This program will be conducted three times a year at 9 locations in the Golaghat and Karbi- Anglong Districts and expected to train 500 farmers on improvement of green leaf quality, Plant Protection code, PPF, and other related good agricultural practices through farmer field training plots.
Dr. S.K. Pathak, Deputy Director, TRA, Jorhat along with a team of scientists conducted the technical sessions on Tipping & Plucking, Soil Nutrition &Management and Pest & Disease Management.
Study materials prepared in Assamese on the above subject and a booklet titled “Chah Khetir Mahekia Pratipalan” were provided to each participant. A field demonstration was conducted on tipping, plucking and spraying techniques. Lunch was arranged for all the participants after the session.
