STG Training at Hattigor Tea Estate

Amalgamated Plantations Private Limited, Tata Global Beverage Limited, Ethical Tea Partnership and Tea Research Association joined together to conduct a training program on Good Agricultural Practices of Tea Cultivation for Small Tea Growers of Udalguri District at Nalapara area of Dimakuchi Zone under Hattigor Tea Estate on 12th April, 2016. More than 180 growers attended and enthusiastically took part in the interactive session. APPL management, Office bearers of All Bodoland Small Tea Growers Association, Tea Development officers of Tea Board from Tangla and Udalguri offices also participated in the event.

This program will be conducted three times a year in 9 locations under Hattigor Tea Estate and expected to train 600 farmers on Quality Leaf Plucking, Plant Protection Code, PPF and other related good agricultural practices.

Mr. Ananth Rajagopalan representing Tata Global Beverages Limited (TGBL), Kolkata addressed the participants on sustainability for a small tea growers from the TGBL perspective.

Dr.S.K. Pathak, Deputy Director, TRA, Jorhat along with scientists from TRA, Thakurbari conducted the technical sessions in power point presentation format.

Study materials prepared in Assamese on the above subject and a booklet titled “Chah Khetir Mahekia Pratipalan” were provided to each participant. A field demonstration was conducted on tipping, plucking and spraying techniques. After the session, all the participants were invited to lunch.
